With the aging of civil engineering structures and the upgrading of design specifications, etc, more and more countries pay more attention on studying the inspection, maintenance and reinforcement of engineering structures. The spiral rib steel wires are the ideal material used to reinforce concrete structural components. Compared with the traditional reinforcement methods, the costs are lower. Therefore, the spiral rib steel wires have a vast development as a new reinforcing material of concrete structures.A reinforced concrete comparative beam and 10 reinforced concrete beams embedded different number of spiral rib steel wires were designed. The experiments were done under the vertical load. The whole force process and the failure mode of the beams were analyzed, and the influence of number of spiral rib steel wires in reinforced concrete beams on the failure patterns, ultimate bearing capacity, deformation, security, and ductility was studied. The results showed that the ultimate bearing capacity of reinforced concrete beams embedded spiral rib steel wires was obviously influenced by the number of spiral rib steel wires. With the reinforcement amount increasing, the ultimate strength of the beam was significantly improved. Compared with ordinary reinforced concrete beams, the yield loads of the reinforced beams with 1,2 and3 length of spiral rib steel wires built-in reinforced concrete beams increased separately 5.69%,29.43% and 34.78%, and the ultimate load increased 45.73%,87.53% and 130.92%.Based on the experiment results and basic design theory of the concrete structure, the computational formula of flexural bearing capacity of reinforced concrete beams embedded spiral rib steel wires were deduced. The experiment results and computing values of reinforced concrete beams embedded spiral rib steel wires were fitted well. It shows that the design method can be used to compute the flexural bearing capacity of reinforced concrete beams embedded spiral rib steel wires. At the same time, the computational formula by determined the reinforced amount was given, and the best reinforced amount of spiral rib steel wire was supposed. It provided theoretical basis and calculation method for the engineering application of this reinforced method.
