Busway System Operational Characteristics Study

Under the background of urbanization and motorization, the supply and demand contradictory of urban traffic has become incisive day by day with the development of social economy. It has become the realistic question and the urgent question in the development of the city. Speeding up the construction and the development of the urban transit, and guiding its structure to transfer to transit, are the ways and methods to realize the sustainable development of the city. Therefore, the "Bus Priority" strategy becomes the inevitable choice of the big or media-sized cities in our country. As the main carrier for realizing "Bus Priority", the bus lane system provides the guarantee in spatial for bus priority and becomes one way to obtain the use of path priority for transit.The characters of bus lane system operation and its parameters have the vital significance to the plan, the design, the operation of the bus lane system. The paper takes the bus lane system in Kunming as an example, and it does the research on the characters of bus lane system operation according to the massive investigation data.Based on the massive measured data, firstly, the paper has conducted the research on parameters of the bus lane system operation--Beijing road in Kunming from rapidity, the reliability, comfortableness, the transportation efficiency, etc. Secondly, it analyzes the reason of flow tide phenomenon about transit, the appraisal targets as well as the influence to transit operation. Thirdly, it does the research on the service level of the platform. According to the actual situation that passengers use the platform, it analyzes the service level of platform according to the use of different space of the platform. Finally, it analyzes scattered ability of the crosswalk and the platform bridge of the platform passengers.The results of the paper might provide the reference for the bus lane system operation of other cities and the following other related researches.
