At present, the forklift industry has good development prospects, while facing fierce competition in the market. In order to meet market demand and forklift series design,accelerate the development of new products, and improve the forklift's performance and quality, in the subject an professional CAD software for the overall design of forklifts is tried to develope.Take the counterbalanced forklift for the research object, specifically discussed the overall calculation, parts matching visualization, stability test visualization, the overall layout parameterization and the document automation and so on. The requirements of the overall design and the CAD system function are analyzed detailedly based on object-oriented method. The CAD system is divided into several modules, analyzing the structure and functions of the main modules. Through software integration, all the modules can be organically combined into a complete CAD system which can achieve the function required by the overall design. Take the overall design of 3.5t forklift for example, introduced the basic operation of the CAD system and the general process of the forklift overall design.Stability test is closely related to the safety of forklift. In the process of exploring the overall design CAD, based on computer graphics theory, the subject focused on the visual simulation of forklift stability tests. By analyzing the principle and process of the stability test, revealed the internal relations between stability test and spatial transformations, and extracted a simplified three-dimensional test mode. Adopting three-dimensional transformation can describe a series of translation and rotation in the stability test,and applying axonometric projection transformation can solve the problems how to display three-dimensional test model on the two-dimensional device. Therefore, based on space transformation method, the forklift stability test can be dynamic displayed on the computer screen by using Visual C++ programming, completing the visual simulation of stability test.The CAD system integrated the visual design, the parametric design, document automation and database technology, and studied in depth three-dimensional visualization. The ideas and methods of this software development has a certain significance for CAD technology application in the design of the Industrial Vehicles.
