Given the increasingly serious problems of global warming and environmental destruction, the construction of resource-saving society has already been the trend and goal in every country, and the building energy conservation, as an environmental protection approach, has played a vital role in curbing the emission of greenhouse gas and preventing the exacerbationof global warming. The climate of Hunan province is distinctively characterized by sultry summer and raw winter, for which in the lobby of public building the energy consumption is generally beyond actual demand. Therefore, it is of great significance for the sustainable development of buildings that how to create indoor and outdoor environment of high quality, and reduce energy consumption via effective energy-saving design and minimal use of refrigeration and heat-supply facilities. From the status quo of modern public building lobby, this thesis reviews development of lobby and generalizes the types and the layout formats of it, thus simplifying several representative and basic forms on which the discussion and analysis are based. In the following parts, the meaning, content and methods of passive energy-saving design are to be illustrated. Meanwhile, combined with the distinctive climate of Hunan, the thesis employs the ECOTECT(eco-building environment analog software) to set up representative but different energy-consumption models, in which relevant environmental parameters shall be imputed, then to conduct quantifiable analog computation of numerical value of energy consumption with taking account of lobby orientation, materials, types, area, planar shape, and adumbral condition. At length, the relations between lobby energy consumption and factors mentioned above can be deduced from those specific data and analysis of results.1 Annual total energy consumption of public building lobbies with various orientations.Southward< Northward< Westward< Eastward (Energy consumption in eastward lobby approximates to that in westward one)2 Annual total energy consumption of public building lobbies with various panel wall materials.Steel and plastic coextruded insulating low-e glass panel wall< Heat-bridge obstructed duralumin radiation-proof insulating glass panel wall< Common steel and plastic coextruded antisolar glass panel wall< Common duralumin insulating glass panel wall< Common duralumin monolayer glass panel wall3 Energy consumption of public building lobbies with various planar shapes.Semicircle< Rectangle< Square4 Energy consumption of public building lobbies with various typesMono-direction type< Southwestern-angle -located type< Southeastern-angle-located type< Tri-direction type> Transfixion type5 Energy consumption of public building lobbies with various areas.Mono-direction type< Angle-located type< Tri-direction typeThe above-named conclusions bear somewhat consultative meaning for energy-saving design of public building in Hunan, conduce to convenience for designers in their practical works, and make design more perspective, accurate, efficient and purposeful.
