A Study On Family Car's Morphology Design Restriction

The society of China is on its way to one of automobile. Automobile will be playing an increasingly important role in family life and future family is bound to be the leading consumes of cars. Nowadays, the focus of auto-design is the families'purchase and needs. The issue of how to design family-specialized cars has become the difficulty in the development of Chinese auto market.The auto industry in our country has a late start and a weak foundation, so nowadays the design for the autos for family is at a preliminary stage of accumulating and learning, what's more the theory is not well put into practice. This paper taking family car's as the example, discusses the form design and semantic transmission of family car under the related theories of product's Morphology and Semantics.Base on product's Morphology, the paper explores the relationship between the form and semantics, and further researches are under the guidance of related theories of semantics. First, the author introduces historical development of car-form, compares the different form features of the existing cars, summarize the common semantic meaning of car-related adjectives, and analyzes features of different styles. All these provide sufficient materials for the later research. Secondly, starting from the living state quos of car-using families and designing features of family cars, the author explores the requirements and designing features of family cars. And, on the basis of the previous analyses and studies, a model for morphology and semantics of family car is put forward, the major factor which determines the morphology and semantics of the product and which is a combination of images, functions, structures, human factor engineering, materials and brand gene. The final part attempts to prove the feasibility of the designing methods through the development of a Chang Feng-made car.Article proposed that, in the form of the design process, the six conditions images, function, structure,the man-machine, materials, brand must be defined firstly, and then to make the form design. In this way, we can optimize the process of form design, and reduce the times of design changes and adjust which are frequency, and improve the efficiency of the design form.
