Car chassis sharing refers to a same set of developing techniques can be applied to cars of different types, so the derived cars of different types could be manufactured from one shared platform. And theoretically it means cars of different levels could be manufactured from the same production line to reduce developing cost and to increase productivity. In order to analysis the adaptation of handling stability for different type cars with same chassis, the study used VC++6.0 and ADAMS/Car as platforms to develop a module exclusively for analyzing of suspension kinematic performance and vehicle handling performance in the Windows environment. And the module can accomplish 5 functions as follow: parameterized modeling of the each subsystems of full-vehicle; automaticly assembling of the simulating model of suspension and full-vehicle; quickly analyzing of the kinematic performance of suspension; quickly analyzing and evaluating of the handling performance of full-vehicle; automaticly postprocessing and saving of the simulating results. The module can greatly enhance the efficiency of analysis, vehicle engineers can accomplish the modeling, simulating and evaluating of suspension and full-vehicle in lesser time, so the developing cost is reduced. In the study, two cars called W1, W2 that using shared chassis provided by Wanxiang group were used as an example. By using the module, the study firstly built parameterized models of the front, rear suspensions of W1, W2, and carried out kinematic simulation of the suspensions to analysis their kinematic performance; then parameterized models of W1, W2 were built to proceed 5 kinds of handling simulations and evaluations according to the Chinese National Standard including steady cornering simulation, step steering simulation, impulse steering simulation, steer releasing simulation and pylon course simulation. The results showed that the shared chassis applyed to the two cars well, and the two cars both meet the requirements for handling performance. The module developed in the study has greatly advantage in handling performance analyzing of cars that using shared chassis, we can gain car models of new types by adjusting the wheelbase, wheeltrack, mass, tires, spring stiffness, shock absorber damping, etc. of the chassis, we don't have to build the car models of new types from the initial template, thus we can develop a car of new type based on shared chassis in lesser time. So the study provides a reference for the research of shared chassis.
