In this paper, the author puts the distributed object techonology to use in the construction industry. This study focuses on component-based integration. An integrated prototype is proposed in order to improve the present integration ways and accelerate the development of construction integration. Firstly, based on the status of the construction integration, the author analysises the existing problems and then introduces the distributed object techonology. This work successfully develops and implements an integrated prototype based on distributed component. In the prototype, objects and members can communicate each other through the CORBA ORB. By using prototype we may integrate the new applications and legacy applications. The paper pays grate attention to the latter. To demonstrate the feasibility of the prototype, a C program is wrapped into a CORBA object and joined into the integrated framework in the 5拁?of the paper. Applying the prototype into the CIMS project farther prove the prototype抯 usability. In addition, this paper takes into account main processes 3nd some attention issues in the wrapping. Later, the author gives some methods of wrapping the Fortran codes, but using them in the real work requires a long time. In the last chapter, the development trends of the construction application and research directions in the future are prospected. Using the component-based integration approach of this work will allow not only the sharing and interchange of design data and information with linked application of the integrated framework, but also the sharing of objects distributed amongst all the applications. And using it, you can make greate use of the legacy resources and improve the software抯 reusability and system抯 runtime. This study bases a stable foundation for the application integration.
