Water hydraulics has been used in steel works, food industry, firefighting, nuclear reaction, and ocean exploration during the past decade. Because it has the advantages of safety and environment friendliness, water hydraulics has been becoming one of most important research subjects in the field of fluid power transmission and control.In the beginning of this paper, the water viscosity and quality are analyzed. The proportion of pressure losing per meter between water and oil under the same flow situation and the proportion of flux between water and oil under the same flow situation and same pressure losing are concluded. The methods such as magnetization, sterilization and fine filtration to improve water quality are summarized.The method to design the pure water relief valve is summarized. In the paper, the way of design of water relief valve and traditional one has been distinguished on the basis of the special properties of pure water..The pure water relief valve's static and dynamic properties are analyzed. The conclusions that increasing the diameter of main valve ora , the rump subulate corner of main valve core and the acreage of cavity of main valve core and decreasing the stiffness of main valve spring can improve the unlocking and locking property of relief valve, and decreasing the diameter of fixed restrictor ora and increasing the cubage of cavity can improve the stability of relief valve.In the end, the design of pure water relief valve test system are described. The results of the test are analyzed.
