The technique of catalytic converter is one of the most important methods to reduce harmful emissions of engine. Many other country have regard it as the mainstream technique to reduce emissions. But we just begin to using it not a long time ago and seldom use them in motorcycle. We have a lot of work to improve and study. In order to meet stringent regulations, the secondary air injection (AIR) system should be added to work with the catalyst. This paper design a motorcycle emission reduction system which include a upstream catalyst ,a downstream catalyst and AIR system after the thorough study of catalytic converters and AIR system. The temperature of exhaust gas can be increased after the upstream catalyst and the remaining exhaust can be reduced by the downstream catalyst. The motorcycle's emissions are high in HC and CO, but low in oxygen. Air system can improve the conversion of HC and CO. The project can ensure conversion rate of catalyst and reduce the decline of power of engine. This paper chooses this project according to the analysis our nation emission status and the main methods of emissions control first. The second part presents the design process of motorcycle emission control system which including AIR and catalyst. In third part of this paper, we calculated the distributing of pressure and velocity in motorcycle's pipe using Fluent software. It can give us a good advice to choose the position of AIR and catalyst. At last, we study how it would affect conversion rate of catalyst through changing AIR mode, position and injection value. It's proved that ours design of emission control system can reduce the emission of motorcycle efficiently.
