Commencing with investigating the market demands for smart charger, adequately theoretic analysis of smart battery is made in this paper. Considering the characteristic curves of the same type of battery are different, a new charge method, namely smart charge, is proposed.To begin with, the paper discusses the charge theory and charge technology. Further discription includes fuzzy theory, such as fuzzy set, fuzzy relations, fuzzy logic and fuzzy inference, and then fuzzy control system and fuzzy control arithmetics are illustrated from the engeering point of view. The approaches of designing fuzzy controller are elaborated and the fuzzy controller is devised finally.The paper focuses on charge control technology, for instance, battery temperature control, voltage control, tinier control, compositive control and otherwise. The compositive control technology is applied for charging battery in this paper. Employing digital filter and sliding window algorithm guarantees the normal work to charger. The software for charger system is designed. SMBus communication programming is used to solve the problem of information acquirement.Besides, the paper gives a brief introduction to hardware design, consisting of main circuit power supply, auxiliary power supply, control circuit, SMBus, display and keyboard components.In conclusion, a series of experiments on the product shows that, the applied fuzzy control technology, SMBus, digital filter and sliding window algorithm not only improve the charging efficiency, but prolong the life-span of battery.The product runs well through a set of hardware and software design, assembling, debugging and testing. Cosequently, it can meet the needs of users.
