Parks and squares are the important forms of open space in cities. Along with the social advancement and urban development, people's psychological behaviors have been changing. At the meantime, the two kinds of separate open space, parks and squares, are combined together to form a new kind of urban open space-park-square in order to meet people's needs of variety, selection and effectiveness. The major characteristics of park-square is the compositeness. It reflects the combination and connection of things, which is also called "isomorphic thought".In the process of constructing urban park-square, space and environment could be explored. It is hoped that the reasonable urban open space system can be constructed. The isomorphism between spatial environment and people's behaviors are also studied in order to emphasize the issues in construction of open space and the importance of the wholeness of space. The thesis makes research on urban park-square. Based on the comparison of the types of open space and the application of isomorphic thought, the idea of park-square is put up and the applications and functions are also discussed. The research framework of park-square has been set up based on composing elements, construction principles and construction effect. An operation process has been designed, a set of applicable methods and environmental strategies are discussed, and evaluation principles are put forward. The trends of the construction of future park-square are also pointed out.
