The technology of condition detection and failure diagnosis of machinery equipment develops along with technologies of related fields such as modern testing technology, signal analysis and processing, computer technology and theory of failure diagnosis. It receives great attention from companies/manufactures around the word, and has been widely applied in industrial production.Condition-detection is a kind of preventive maintenance on the basis of technical condition of equipments. This kind of maintenance proves to be economical and worthy of popularizing because it can not only ensure the equipments in good technical conditions, but also make full use of the components' life span. Condition detection and fault diagnosis are the key technology and also the prerequisite of condition maintenance of equipments. For complicated machinery equipments as turbo-generating units in power station, optimized and combined maintenance methods shall be taken when executing conditions maintenance of different equipments in order to improve the reliability of equipments and reduce the cost in generating electricity. Condition maintenance cannot take place of regular maintenance at present, but the proportion of it is increasing gradually on the basis of regular maintenance. This paper describes the actual situation of condition detection and fault diagnosis of turbo-generating units in JPPCC, analyzes and studies the present technology. The author grasps the structure, method and related theories of fault diagnosis system and finally points out the plan and target of condition detection and fault diagnosis in JPPCC's turbine generators. At present among commonly used diagnosis methods, it is practical to diagnose axial vibration fault with frequency analysis and axis locus analysis. In order to diagnose exactly the vibration fault diagnosis of new startup units should combine both the vibration parameter and other related parameters.
