Gsm-based Distribution Transformer Monitoring System

Many kinds of communication methods are used in distribution automation system, such as local bus, power line carrier, special telephone line, optical cable. One or several methods can be used in power system to accomplish monitoring and controlling of equipments successfully in trunk line of distribution system. But several important distribution transformers in lateral are hard to be monitored and controlled through traditional communication methods.In recent years, GSM has developed fast and its networks have covered whole nation. The quality of communication is improved very fast. It is a new communication method in power system by which the information of electric power equipments is transmitted. This is a new thought to realize monitoring and controlling of distribution transformer. Through GSM terminal, data transmission can be accomplished between the control terminal and the master workstation. Then, the master workstation can monitor and even control distribution transformer. This communication method is very important for the management of separate distribution transformer.This paper provided a system software of monitor and control based on GSM networks running on Windows 98, Windows 2000. The DLL involving data communication had developed in Visual C++6.0 to resolve the communication question in base layer, which provides general function interface for other program to call its functions to transmit data from series port into database tables. PowerBuilder.5 develops the main part of software and database is designed in SQL Anywhere, which is the portable relational data system of Power Builder 6.5. The software adopts standard Windows interface style and is developed in modules.GSM monitor and control system can be use as a part of power usage system or distribution automation system. It has important signification to dispatch and distribute load. It has great benefits to society and economy.
