With the development of computer technology, there has been a tendency that utilizes CAD/CAE, such as "simulation", in the vehicle's design. In the meantime, increasing vehicle's speed and development of highway also call for our more attention to the vehicle's steering performance and maneuverability. This paper uses the special software, MSC.ADAMS, to build a series of 3D dynamic models including a body, front and rear suspension and a steering system; by using of MSC.ADAMS, the multi-rigid-body dynamics simulation models are built successfully. Also, to improve the accuracy of virtual model, front and rear leaf spring are modeled as Model-Flex-Body and the full vehicle comprising multi-rigid-body model, flex body and rubber bushings is built. We can do the experiment in MSCADAMS/Car to test the steering performance and to analyze this truck with the steering function. For this truck's steering heavy problem, we get an improvement project. I modify the truck model according to this improvement project, and does the steering performance experiment again. The analyses result can certificate the reasonability of the improvement and optimization project. Finally with the help of Nanjing automobile cooperation group light truck company, the company offers an improved truck, and we can do the experiment of the truck in Dingyuan vehicle test field. The real truck's experiment result can verify the feasibility and reasonability of this optimization project. At the same time, the result also inspects the negative influence which this optimization project may bring.
