Yunnan province, located southwest China. There are 25 Chinese minorities with abundant traditional ethnic minority cultures as well as ethnic minority vernacular architectures which have been preserved well. However monumental architecture has become international, the survival of the vernacular architecture is threatened by the globalization. So that, the sustainable development of vernacular architecture is argent problem needs to be solved, especially in Yunnan.Based on the author personal experience for six weeks in Keyi village which is a Axi People village and located in Mila County of Yunnan Province. The thesis analyses the vernacular architecture of the Yunnan ethnic minority areas on many different angles. The thesis provides large quantify of first hand materials for further research of the mode of making architectural professional skills to get married with the organic renewal of the vernacular architecture. Then the thesis discusses the strong points and the short points of the mode and the problems we will meet with in the mode as well as how we can handle with them.This thesis is composed of six chapters. The contents they discuss as follows:Chapter 1 introduction.Discussthe background and release the problems , and put forward the basic principle and four cent-principles that should to be abide by when we take some practice work in the Keyi village. The author will discuss them in the following fourth chapters in detail.Chapter 2: Experience personally and investigate on the spot-During experienced personally in the village for a long time, the author compare living-mode of village with the living-mode of city. She also provides plans to improve some aspects of living-mode of village.Chapter 3: The "participate" principle-the real designer of the vernacular architecture is the user, how architect to participate the process of building!Chapter 4: The "site " principle-make the design on the spot in order to build the sense of "site ".Chapter 5: Conversing the roles in the village - don't be tied down by the role of the architect, converse the role when necessary in order to strengthenthe ability of the vernacular architecture to resist the globalization .Chapter 6: Conclusion. Conclude the experience in Keyi village and Initiate people to pay attention to the sustainable development of the vernacular architecture with practice .
