With the development of industry, it is demanded that the hydraulic transmission and control systems should have higher performance and control precision. Using computer simulation technology, the performance of systems can be forecasted, the design cycle can be shorten, and the whole system can be analyzed and evaluated. So the purposes of optimizing system, shorting design cycle and improving the stability of system can be achieved. The paper firstly researched the foundation of hydromechanics. The working principle, characteristic and model of main hydraulic components were analyzed in detail. Furthermore, the sort, working principle and characteristic of general hydraulic transmission circuits were studied. Secondly, as the first step of simulation is modeling, the modeling methods of hydraulic systems, especially the principle, procedure and specialty were researched. Thirdly, the function and characteristic of AMESim and its series, modeling and simulation software for hydraulic and mechanical systems, were researched. The application of main software AMESim was demonstrated with an instance of position control system for a hydraulic actuator. Lastly, the hydraulic system of a plastic machine was simulated and researched with AMESim.Research indicates: the method of numerical simulation is an effective approach to analyse the dynamic characteristic of hydraulic system. AMESim is a perfect choice to model and simulate for mechanic and hydraulic system. The hydraulic system of a plastic machine was simulated and researched with AMESim. The result accord with the actual situation. It is validated the validity of creating new components using supercomponent function and rationality of modeling and parameter settings.
