Power system fault calculation is an important part of power system analysis. It plays an important role in the selection of equipments, relay setting, configuration of automatic devices and parameter setting. Research on the mathematic model and implementation of power system calculation by computer and improving the calculation precision have great significance.Based on the object oriented technology, the paper has founded a power system object model which accords with the characteristic and is also suitable for the calculation and extension. Then the paper implements object oriented fault calculation software by Visual C++. The algorithm bases on symmetrical components method, and it can calculate simple faults and complex faults. The software is divided into three layers, including man-machine interface layer, application layer and database layer. The application layer has four functional parts, i.e., graphics modeling, fault calculation, data maintenance and security management.
