Belt conveyor is the most important transportation facility that carries dispel goods and is applied in many fields. The rollers and housings, the important transmission parts in belt conveyor systems performing power transmission, are often under complex conditions and easily damaged when design parameters are not correct. And the capability and reliability of belt conveyor is mainly determined by the key parts'strength and stiffness. So analyzing the strength and stiffness of the rollers and housings to make them light and stiff is important to improve the reliability and reduce the cost of the belt conveyor. The driving rollers'design is always the problem for belt conveyor factory and its design has been researched home and abroad for a long time. But the traditional design methods have many disadvantages. In the paper the driving rollers and the other key parts are analyzed with finite element parametric analysis method which is recently applied broadly.Firstly, Rollers'variety and structure are introduced. Rollers and housings are analyzed by fundamentals of belt rollers.Secondly, the establishment of FEM is a key step of CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) analysis. The quality of models is directly related to the precision of the results, even the correctness. Referring to a great deal of literature, the establishing method of these parts'mechanics models is researched. The results are explained after analysis by parametric FEM models. The rollers and housings are optimized to reduce the cost on condition that strength and stiffness is satisfied and optimized structures are reanalyzed. In addition, on the basis of FEM, parametric analyzing program of belt rollers and housings is developed by Open Architecture tools for the belt conveyor's design. The program follows the whole process of analysis and inducts users to complete it easily. The stress and deformation are finally obtained. Application by CISDI shows that the analysis results are correct. With the software, design iterations can be performed automatically. When the structure's size is modified, finite elements can...
