Through applying pill designing theory, ammunition theory, inner ballistics, outer ballistics, powder theory, aerodynamics, and blasting technology, and using the current mature mortar shell designing experience, combining the engineering facts, the article improves designing of 60mm mortar type PP89,, thus greatly improving its killing and wounding power.The following are warring index of mortar shell:1) Max Range: ≥2600mm;2) Ground dispersion at Max Range : Ex/X ≤1/120; Ez/X ≤1/250;3) Prefabricated fragments can penetrate the bullet-proof helm and the bullet-proof vest hung 8m away(safety standard: class 54); penetrating ratio>95%;4) Lethal radius ≥19m;5) Flying weight: 1.36kg6) Initial speed: 206m/s;7) The Killing and wounding shrapnel trajectory is basically identical to 60mm mortar type PP89, sharing the same shooting list.Through calculating, checking and estimating various mortar structure elements, ballistic elements, aerodynamic coefficient, flying stability, shooting intensity, invariability, spreading precision, the result indicates the improved mortar shell meets the requirements of mortar shell criterion.
