Abstract/Summary:
Cement is one of the most important materials closely related to the national construction and the people's livelihood. With the deepening of the reform and opening to the outside world, a large amount of cement is required in the economic reconstruction, military engineering and varies kinds of civilian constructions in our country.The transportation of cement in our country, at present, mainly relies on the railway. However the tension of the railway transportation has restricted the expansion of cement production and is comparatively expensive. This provides a magnificent prospect to self unloading cement carriers due to its' low transportation cost, large freight volume and low pollution.In order to speed up the transportation of bulk-cement by water in our country, and the opening of its international market, it has become the task of top priority to develop large-sized ocean-going cement carriers of our own.According to the prediction of the cement sea-shipping demand in the world will be increased from 132.6 billion miles of 1996 to 176.0 billion miles in 2006 or more. Following the arrival of the new high tide of old ships, the international cement market has an urgent need of a batch of self-unloading sea-going bulk-cement carriers. And the dead weight tonnage in the ship market of international cement trade is also going up. The cement sea shipping carriers have a trend of becoming larger in size. The 9000 DWT-class self-unloading sea-going cement carrier is one of the most needed ship types.The 9,000T self unloading cement carrier is a high value-added product built for Singa Shipping, Norway, by our company and this is the first ever built in the shipbuilding circles in China.The thesis presents the overall design points of the self-unloading cement carrier, starting from design and construction. The thesis gives a special prominence to the stability and safety requirement in it's general arrangement of this type and an analysis to the key points and points for attention in the overall design.
