The electromagnetic launching (EML) technology is the research direction which is proposed newly in the recent years. This paper is about some issues of electromagnetic gun(EMG) for a exploration by using the EML technology.The paper outlines the EML technology and its development in domestic and abroad, introduces three different types of EM launchers and their basic working principle, prospects the application forground of the EML technology. The research choose the coil-type EM launcher as the research plan. By using reluctance coil launcher' s special acceleration mechanism, computation model is built and the main components of reluctance coil EMG is analyzed. By using finite element software for the research plan' s electromagnetic field analysis, the relations between the EM force, flux and inductance of the coil with projectile, which is at different axial position, is studied. The factors what affect the generated EM force is analyzed, and the computation model is optimized on its size and structure by using finite element analysis. Research plan' s modeling and simulation is made on the use of Simulink, analysis of the dynamic characteristics is did to find the relations between projectile' s initial position, charging voltage and capacity with the speed of the projectile, and the necessary efficiency analysis. According to the above study, a single-chip microcomputer-based launch model circuit on the control of turn-off time is designed in the end, including the charging section, discharging section and measure of variables. The designed EMG model will provide a reference in the future.
