This paper is about how to use modern design method to design and study some automatic grenade launcher. The general project of some automatic grenade launcher was designed. Aiming at the technical difficulty of double-faced feed, it was discussed with teachers and mechanical engineers. The parts was designed detailedly and created three-dimensional solid model in SolidWorks. The rigid-flexible virtual prototype model of some automatic grenade launcher, which is based on the dynamics theory of multi-body system and logically simplified, is established in the modeling environment of ADAMS. Kinematic reliability and load spectrum which suffered in the course of their work are proved by kinematics and dynamics analysis of automatic mechanism, trigger mechanism, the feed mechanism and the extraction and ejection mechanism. According to the principle of the finite element method, simplified finite element model is created in ANSYS by using output loads of ADAMS. Through different finite element analyses, the actual stress and strain is reappeared. According to the strength criteria, the strength properties of the key parts and components were checked. According to the strength and distribution of stress, the parts were optimized.All this work supplied a new method and reference to the design and the further research of automatic grenade launcher. The research methods in the paper have also provided a new idea and method to related researches.
