Digital Substation Applications

With the development of substation automation technology for more than ten years, the technology in our country has reached certain level. No matter what is its voltage level, nowadays the new built substation will adopt integrated substation automation system. Meanwhile, through various technique modifications, many old fashion substation realized substation automation as well. The widely adoption of substation automation technology increases the level of modernization of power grid building, improves the dispatching ability of power grid and of transmission and distribution and decreases the total cost of substation. With the development of intellectual switch, electronic CT and PT, online state evaluation of preliminary operation equipment, operation training and simulation of substation and the applying of computer high speed network in real-time system, substation with its information collected, transmitted and processed by digitizing will become the goal of substation automation.This paper introduces the concept, main character, related research and applying of digitized substation. Combined with the applying of electronic transformer, intellectual terminal, network communication technology and IEC 61850, this paper clarifies the feasibility of building digitized substation and points out that digitized substation, the basic unit of future digitized power grid, is the important developing direction of substation technology. With the actual experience of Zhuzhuang substation, which is the first 110 kV digitized substation built by Jinan electric company, this paper investigates the approach of realizing the digitized substation in detail.Digitized substation is the further developing direction of integrated automatic substation in digital technique, and the building plan of digitized substation is the emphasis of this paper. This paper introduced the concept and composing of digitized substation, analyzed the development and current situation of the applying of digitized substation home and abroad and investigated the realizing plan of digitized substation. Using digital technique, digitized substation realized the digitizing of information collecting, transmitting, disposing, measuring and outputting. Besides, it made communication networked, made model and communication protocol unified, made equipment intellectual and made operation management automatic. It boosts the level of integrated automation of substation to build digitized substation.
