With our country's economy developing,urban construction quickening,and the number of motor vehicles rapidly increasing,municipal traffic problem caused by the city land opening and disordering use has become more serious than over before,this is one of the factors which restrict urban development.Traffic impact analysis is an effective means to coordinate the land use and traffic system in big city.Therefore,it is more urgent to make traffic impact analysis to residential areas in big city.In view of this case of urban construction this paper mainly studied traffic characteristic, interaction relationship between land use and city traffic,based on theory of domestic and foreign TIA(Traffic Impact Analysis) and overseas experience in this field.Next it deeply analyzed the key points in the community one by one,then proposed the suitable volume of transportation,traffic threshold,traffic impact areas,which conform to the urban residential. Also,give out a way to define traffic impact area according to the level of service(LOS).Base on basic contents of traffic impact analysis to establish evaluation system to determine degree of traffic impact by AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process)and proposed feasible improvement measures.In the end taking a large -scale community in Shanghai for example,it did experiment to test the system.
