Programmable Gain technology is wildly implicated in radar, electronic countermeasures, microwave communications, satellite communications, as well as microwave/millimeter-wave measurements. In this dissertation, the studies on reducing controller's size, improving controller's responding speed and realizing small step (0.25dB) directly in Ka-band are done.In the study of program-controlled voltage source module, in order to meet the demand of high accuracy, good stability, well switching speed, and programmable controlled, the scheme by using the digital-to-analog converter chip to design the module was proposed and demonstrated. In the study of system on programmable chip (SOPC) modules, in order to meet the demand of high switching speed, the scheme by using FPGA chip was proposed and demonstrated, after comparing the disadvantage of MCU and PC in switching speed. In the study of gain controller module, in order to meet the demand of small size, good stability, and small-stepping controlled, the scheme by using the MMIC chip was proposed and demonstrated. At the same time, a new type waveguide-to- microstrip transistor was designed.Beside this, taking account of the large number of test data, automatic measure software was programmed with the Labview virtual equipment software. Then all the modules were tested. In short, in this dissertation the researches include DAC (digital-analog conversion), FPGA (field programmable logic device), SOPC (System on Programmable Chip), waveguide-to-microstrip transition, Labview virtual equipment software. In this dissertation, those technologies are studied in detail and successfully applied.
