Qingdao is a characteristic coastal city in China, During its past 100 years and more, Qingdao was governed by Germany, Japan, Beiyang Government ,Kuomintang Government and finally the PRC, accordingly the city construction of Qingdao went through three phases: original and prosperous, suspending and furbishing, development and climactic. The city construction during the German occupation period was the foundation of the Qingdao city, which has the greatest influence of Qingdao. The German a spent a lot of resource to redesign the Qingdao City. New and old styles were being combined during that time, and created the unique Qingdao style. The Office of Governor's residence is most representative, it represents advanced architecture techniques and management systems of German at that time, which has a great influence on residence architecture both the contemporary and modern..This article analysis from Architecture technology and art the two aspect, introduced the social and history backdrop of the Governor's residence, and also introduced the general situation of the architecture plan, especially introduce the architecture art trait of outdoor and indoor and the new technique and new material. This article also elaborates the meaning of red tile and yellow wall in Qingdao style from the respect of details of architecture, color, materials and technical, and then provides some suggestion for the modern architecture design. with proper understanding of the value of Office of Governor's residence, we can find the proper protect and development plan for it. And then,excavation depth of the city of Qingdao cultural heritage, show the new face of city characteristics, supply materials for the characteristic city construction.
