With the improvement of automatism in automobile and electronic industries, each ECU(electronic control unit) needs more information from other parts, and controls the system better. Otherwise, because different parts exchanges a large number of information, the traditional wiring method can't meet this demand of communication. The emergence of automotive network not only solves the increasingly complex problem of wiring harness layout, but also brings a bright future for the optimal control system of the automotive industry. In China, application of the automotive network technology is rather later than the U.S and European countries. And we haven't developed perfect automotive network products yet. So it is imperative to accelerate the development of automotive network technology, and developed new products with our own intellectual property rights.OSEK specification is released by the European OSEK / VDX organization for automotive software development and maintenance, including structure, interfaces and communications standards of the automotive network. The specification is consist of the OS (operating system) standard, COM (communications) standard, NM (Network Management) standard, OIL ( OSEK Implement Language) standard, and act. In this paper, we paid more attention to discuss the OSEK NM. We have built the platform that provided the service to the NMS(network management system), designed and implemented the NMS,which is in line with the OSEK NM standard. For the structure of this paper, first, we summarized the current state of automotive network, as well as its classification and key technology. Then, we deeply researched the 3 parts of OSEK specification, they are OS, COM and NM standards. We build the underlying platform for the NMS, and described the functions of hardware and software modules, as well as the driver.We explained the principles and structures of the hardware and software we designed. Then, according to the fuctions and rules of NM message, we built the structure of the NMS, analyzed the significance of the message, and descibed transform mode about the state of ECU.The key of the paper is the processing algorithm of the NM message. At the same time, we analyzed the sleeping mechanisms of the ECUs by the NM message. And we also designed the processing algorithm of sleeping mode.At the last, we built the experimental environment to test the processing module of the NM message and gave out the result report and the assessment of the NMS.This paper comes from one well-known domestic automobile dealer's design task. The test results of the NMS we have given indicates that,the design of the NMS algorithm is practical, the automotive network is reliabe,and its performance is good.And finally,we have achieved the desired design goal.
