Intelligent Substation Architecture And Standardized Information Platform For Research

The development of power systems faces many challenges. Smart Grid is regarded as an efficient solution. Intelligent substation is one of the foundational and pivotal links of construction of a strong Smart Grid.This article analyzes the current situation of digital substation, and states the concept and main features of intelligent substation. The difference of digital substation and intelligent substation is compared. A framework of intelligent substation based on integration of primary equipments and secondary equipments is proposed, whose significance of is emphasized then.An open and common information system is the basic of SG. This article analyzes problems of power grid information system today; proposes a framework of SG information system; emphasizes the importance of digitalization and standardization of basic data. Considering the significant position of substations in power systems, a framework for basic data platform of substations is designed. The platform can provide basic data with standardized protocol ,standardized format and synchronous timestamps ,which enable all-in-one management. The structure of this platform can be cascaded to a structure of SG.A Synchronous Measurement Unit(SMU) is designed, which is based on GPS and time synchronization on Ethernet and can achieve realizing data acquisition and real-time transmission simultaneously. SMU can provide accurate data with unified time label, by processes of time synchronizing, sampling and time-marking. The application of SMU can provide high performance basic information for SG.
