With the growing development of construction, crawler cranes are increasingly used in municipal construction, traffic, bridges and other construction sites. However, it also brings frequent accidents, it's necessary to install the equipment which can record the use of cranes to improve cranes'safety factor.Based on the above inspects, a recorder system was designed which consists of data record and analysis. The working conditions can be known by collecting and analyzing the working parameters.The effect of keeping crane safe can be achieved by correcting risk operation.According to actual functional requirements, the overall design plan is presented; recorder and PC data analysis software are also designed. The recorder is in charge of receive and save crane's CAN bus data while the data analysis software is responsible for reading raw data in the recorder and processing and analyzing them. They communicate through the USB bus.The recorder's hardware used LPC2366 as the core, and designed external modules such as real time clock unit, clock correction uint, storage unit and power-down detection unit. RS-232 bus, CAN bus and USB bus interface are designed. Software is designed based on hardware. Clock calibration, data acquisition, data storage, data communication are designed by functional modules. For the enhanced function of the software, CAN ID filtering, compression/decompression and file system algorithm are also designed.Data analysis software is designed based on the development environment of Delphi7 language. By the operating procedures of this software, the interface of user management, preferences, data management and data analysis module are designed in accordance with the modularization. Meanwhile, the program of the original data's visual representation in the recorder is designed.The system has been used on XX Company's crawler crane and works properly; it shows that the system has higher availability.
