Creative Development Of The Urban Industrial Heritage

As a hot spot, the conservation and reuse of industrial heritage has always been concerned by international academic community. Especially in the background of industry restructuring and upgrading, the issue become more prominent. Nevertheless, the rise of creative industries in late 90s, 20th century brings the protection and reuse of industrial heritage in to a vast space. London, New York, Paris, Tokyo and other cities in post-industrial stage have started to develop creative industries through reusing industrial heritage, and have made great achievements, making the creative development of industrial heritage to be a world trend. Meanwhile, Shanghai, in a developing country, led by the international trend, has also started to develop creative industries through reusing industrial heritage, thus forms its own unique mode of development of creative industries and has accumulated rich experience in this field.By analyzing the international background of creative development of industrial heritage, the thesis is intent to point out the significance, policies, and path that Shanghai promotes creative development of industrial heritage, and then proposes its'prospect. It mainly includes six chapters.In chapter 1, the concept of industrial heritage and creative development of industrial heritage has been defined.In chapter 2, the article analyzes the reasons why creative development of industrial heritage becomes a world tide from three aspects in details.In chapter 3, the article points out the reasons and practical significance Shanghai develops creative industries through reusing industrial heritage.In chapter 4, the paper gives a macro-analysis about the policies and measures which are carried out by Shanghai Municipal Government .In chapter 5, the thesis analyzes the five modes of creative development of industrial heritage in Shanghai, and tries to refine the regular.In chapter 6, the thesis proposes forward-looking suggestion and points out that Shanghai should seize the opportunities to promote the creative development of industrial heritage in the background of economic crisis.
