Paeonia suffruticosa Andr. belongs to the Paeonia, Paeoniaceae, which is a perennial deciduous shrub. It is not only the traditional famous flower originating from our country, but also one of the well-known flowers in the world. Because of its florescence characteristic-short and mass, the desire of people appreciating the flowers can not be satisfied. In addition to, the florescence may be ahead of schedule as the climatic reason, so the travel industry and the reputation would be destroyed seriously in the peony produced area. The thesis makes several summaries in the peony's studies development,systematic classification, biological characteristics, lingering techniques and so on. Several plants growth regulators are used to study the growth and the blossom of peony, and chemical measures on the regulation mechanism of the outdoor peony florescence is discussed, which provide the foundation of theory and practice for the outdoor peony florescence's regulation mechanism. The studies indicated: (1) The differentiation and development of peony's flower buds can be delayed by the Ethephon in autumn. Taked the 'Yingluo Baozhu', for example, it can be defoliated early 9~11 days and postponed to germinate 4~10 days next year by Ethephon, which can delay the florescence 1~3 days, but the percentage of the blossom decreases and the scapes wane. (2) Peony can be defoliated 3~7 days and postponed to germinate 2~6 days by MH (maleic hydrazide) in autumn, which can delay the florescence 1~2 days, but the percentage of the blossom decreases and the scapes wane. (3) Peony can be delayed to germinate 2 days and the florescence can be postponed 1~2 days by B9 (dimethyl aminosuccinamic acid) in autumn, but the growth of peony's new twigs were restrained obviously. The blossom of peony can be improved obviously by the B9 in spring, which can prolong the florescence, especial 200mg/L prolonging about 8.5 days. The scapes are not influenced obviously by B9, but the new twig's growth is restricted obviously, and the leaves can be effected badly by the high concentration B9. (4) Peony can be delayed to germinate 3~5 days and the florescence can be postponed 1~2 days by PP333 (paclobutrazol) in autumn, but the new twig's growth is restricted obviously. Its new twig's growth is also restricted by PP333 in spring, but the percentage of the blossom increases and the florescence can be postponed several days—100mg/L PP333 early florescence 4.2 days and late florescence 3.5 days. The size of the scape changes unobviously. (5) Peony can be delayed to germinate 2~3 days by the CCC (chlorocholine chloride) in autumn, but the new twig's growth was restricted obviously. The florescence and the size of the scape isn't influenced obviously by the CCC. (6) The new twig's growth is restricted obviously by the complex preparation of B9 and PP333 (2:3 or 3:2) in spring, but the percentage of the blossom increases and the florescence is delayed and prolonged, for example :①the preparation of 280mg/L B9 & 420mg/L PP333 the early florescence 6.3 days and the late florescence 5.6 days. ②the preparation of 600mg/L B9 & 400mg/L PP333 the early florescence 6.7 days and the late florescence 8.3 days. But different kinds of peony show different performance in some degree.
