The correlations of eleven floral and fruit quantitative traits of Liriodendron interspecific hybrids(L. chinense×L. tulipifera) and its parent species were analysized. The aglycone and glycoside of flavonoid and carotinoids of perianth segment in the three groups were studied qualitatively and quantatively by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).The results were as followed: The aglycone such as cyanidin, 6-hydroxyflavone and trans-chalcone and the glycoside such as glucose, rhamnose and galactose were discovered in Liriodendron interspecific hybrids and Liriodendron chinense, carotinoids such as lycopene and β-carotene were also discovered. The others were discovered in Liriodendron tulipifera except for cyanidin and galactose, so the three groups could be identified partially by cyanidin and galactose. Of the 8 pigment traits, cyanidin and 4 other traits were different significantly among the three groups, which were successfully used in group-discrimination by means of the method of principal component analysis. According to the number one of principal component(percent of variance 77.73%),The ranking among them was Liriodendron chinense(variance range 1.05445~1.33631,averange 1.19538)>F1(L. chinense×L. tulipifera)( variance range -0.35437~-0.0812,averange -0.217785) >Liriodendron tulipifera(variance range -1.14917~-0.80602,averange -0.977595), therefore the 3 ranges were not overlapped. Lycopene (30.0976μg/g) and ?-carotene(30.2348μg/g) had higher content and mostly contributed to the colour of perianth segment in F1. Lycopene was osculant, β-carotene showed matroclinous and transgressive inheritance, so Liriodendron interspecific hybrids with fresher perianth segment could be selected by Liriodendron chinense (?)with higher content of β-carotene. The length and width of perianth segment(inner 2 ring) were osculant, the former showed matroclinous inheritance, the latter showed patroclinal inheritance, so Liriodendron interspecific hybrids with bigger perianth segment could be selected by Liriodendron chinense(? )with longger perianth segment and Liriodendron tulipifera(? )with widder perianth segment. The length of fruit ahd number of little key fruits showed patroclinal transgressive inheritance, so Liriodendron interspecific hybrids with bigger fruit could be selected by Liriodendron tulipifera(? )with longger fruit and more key fruits, moreover, the two traits showed significantly positive correlation (r=0.888). Of the 11 floral and fruit quantitative traits, the length and width of perianth segment and 6 other traits were different significantly among the three groups, which were successfully used in group-discrimination by means of the method of principal component analysis. According to the number one of principal component(percent of variance 69.11%),The ranking among them was Liriodendron tulipifera (variance range 0.7156??1.3916,averange 1.0408)??F1 ( variance range-0.0865??0.3959,averange 0.2646) ?? Liriodendron chinense (variance range ,-1.5443??-0.8855 averange -1.2426), therefore the 3 ranges were not overlapped. This paper researched basically the pigment of perianth segment and the eleven floral and fruit quantitative traits among Liriodendron interspecific hybrids and its parent species .The diversity and rule of inheritance variance were discussed in the three groups, all these would serve cross breeding of Liriodendron.
