Forest trees have tremendous economic and ecological value, as well as unique biological properties of basic scientific interest. The inherent difficulties of experimenting on very large longlived organisms motivates the development of a model research system for forest trees. Populus has several advantages as a model system. But because of the shortcomes that the chromosome of Populus are small, dioecism, without perianth, trunk of the tree is tall, the period of infancy is 6~7 years. In view of the above insufficiency, we still needed to explore the new model plants, we newly studied one kind plant: Cassia bicapsularis, to make up the above insufficient. This requires necessary research to its morphology, anatomy, physiological and biochemical characters.Cassia bicapsularis is fine ornamental plant, belongs to Caesalpiniaceae. Seeded that year, the plant can bloom in the same year. Originate in South America, is distributed in the tropical subtropical all parts of the world now. Scholars have already carried on a small amount of research to it before this. But about the biological characteristic, anatomy and developmental biology, any report has not been found.In this paper, the biological characteristic and microstructure and rapid propagation were studied. Mainly involve following several respects:(1)Research on the biological characteristic. Cassia bicapsularis distributes in South China and East China mainly. Because of the limitations of seed coat, germination percentage is low. Can improve the germination percentage from 35% to 60.5% through the mechanical damage. Seeds are medium size, the specific gravity is bigger. The water content in seeds is low. The chlorophyll content is high, is the heliophytes. The seedlings from seeds can bloom in one year, grow rapidly. Flowers are large and beautiful.(2)Research on the microstructure. In this chapter, the methods of paraffin and scan electron microscope were used. The vascular bundle of anther has three bunches; Empty in the central of the stem; Embryo cells are small, chromatin is dense, have already differentiation on epidermis, cortex and central cylinder. It is 3 ditch pollen under electron microscope. It is special to seed coat of Cassia bicapsularis, the cover structure split deeply. There are few air vents of above pellicles, however, the below pellicle has a lot of air vents.(3)Research on the tissue culture. In appropriate culture medium, utilize the stem of the plant, can get a large number of young plants. Survival rate can be more than 85% after transplanting.Combined with every aspects of research in this paper that Cassia bicapsularis is suit to become the model plant on heredity, aberrance, secondary growth and so on.
