The continuous attention to women is a basic clue in Wang An-Yi's novels. Since the new century, female characters continue to be the leading role in Wang's novels. She has successively shaped a group of female images:females of small towns representative in Grow Lotus Roots Underwater and Red Chestnuts Above and Linhuaiguan; Shanghai LaoSanJie females representative in Sister First and Tao Zhi Yao Yao; labor females of the new era representative in Fu Ping; urban fashionable women representative in Moonstruck and country girls working in cities representative in Hair Salon Prattles. These novels tell the story of these social marginal females who face the life predicament and live their enduring lives with self-esteem or lose themselves in the metropolitan material desires. Wang An-Yi's female novels mostly display and affirm women's fringe and women's survival significance and Wang shows her deep understanding and tolerance with these women's struggle for their true life in different ways. Although Wang An-Yi denied herself as a feminist, she reflected her female consciousness in these novels. At this stage of novel writing, Wang presented some new changes in female image: She turned her attention from women's individual life experience to women's survival of social situations. Female life experience became the deep-text experience discourse. Wang displayed and affirmed the secular form and meaning of female individual life in an ordinary daily life and she described female images vividly with the combination of women experience and urban experience, dialect and local experience. In the process of describing female image, Wang An-Yi avoided the description of the petty, endowed more literariness with daily-life description, which ascended the aesthetic connotations of novels.Wang's creative writing practice, undoubtedly, will and must bring new enlightenment and reference to the contemporary literary circle.
