The word YUMEN prevailed among undergraduates and became the popular topic of much news several years ago, and captured researchers' attention recently. The ways of researchers' explanations about the phenomenon could be categorized into two. The first category treated the YUMEN as anxiety or depression, and the second one analyzed the specific facets of the phenomena. The later one thought YUMEN as a new type of emotions or affects, and the former didn't. The former was wrong. Those two ways could not succeed to answer the question that what was YUMEN, and therefore it was necessary to review the literature and explore the construct of the phenomenon.Basis on the review of the literature, we put forth an operation definition from the psychological points: the undergraduates' YUMEN was a new type negative affect, which was a composite of many affects, and the result of adaptation, and it maybe profitable or profitless. When this affect leaded to psychological-functioning-damage, it became adaptation disease, could be named as YUMEN syndrome, which was abnormal.Based on overviews of former researches and the of open-ended, and According to our operation definition, the results of open-ended investigation, we constructed the undergraduates' YUMEN questionnaire, was called UGYMQ for short, which was used investigate 1007 college students from 5 universities. The datum was broken into 2 documents randomly. One was used for EFA, and the other was used for CFA. The statistical analysis results indicated that the questionnaire was reliable and validity. On the condition of our investigation, we get the following conclusions:1, the UGYMQ had four dimensions, i.e. sense of anxiety, sense of attention-decentralization, and sense of meaning, and sleeping problems. 2, the UGYMQ had significant reliability and validity, and could be used of a tool of survey.3, the average scores indicated that the YUMEN's impacts were the normal expression of their adaptation. Nevertheless, part of the undergraduates should pay attention to YUMEN. The average of the sense of anxiety, attention-decentralization and the total questionnaire's score changed from 2 to 2.5; the sense of meaning and sleeping problems changed between 1.5 and 2. And the standard deviation changed from .76 to .88. There was 19 to 35 percent of the total undergraduates population who reported never experienced YUMEN, 46 to 57 percent slight, and 11 to 23 percent medium, and 4 to 8 percent extreme serious.4. The characteristics relevant gender, major and grade. First, the all interactions were not significant except the 2-way interaction of grade and major on the attention -decentralization dimension. Specifically speaking, during the undergraduates from science the score of grade 1 was higher than that of grade 3 and 4, and score of grade 3 was higher than that of grade 4, and score of grade 2 was the lowest one. From the grade dimension, the score of science students was higher than that of liberal arts ones. Secondly, all the main effect were not significant.
