China's Reform Of The Existing Household Registration System

China's existing household registration system is directly related to the overall activities of the national order and the vital interests of the masses. This fragmentation of the dual urban-rural household registration system has restricted the agricultural population's right of free movement.In the early days,it play a role to maintain social stability and economic development,but today,china has transited to a market economy,this kind of household has already lost the original meaning.Insread,the functions as a tool to distribute the benefits has been strengthened,which lead to political, economic and cultural interest to urban and regional economic imbalances of development has permeated all areas of social life, affecting most people from birth, growth, education, employment to marriage, etc. It is more and more prominent thatthe traditional household registration system could not adapt to the prosent sociaty,and the challenges have become stronger and stronger. But with the development of the market economy, as the household registration system limits population mobility,it also limits economic development. Morever it also aggravates the differences between urban and rural areas, and limits the freedom of movement of citizens. China's household registration system is not just a simple registration system, which bears a number of other social functions:the distinction between urban and rural areas,the population movements limit, especially in rural areas to cities, small towns to big cities, and corresponds to a different type of account, the welfare standards is also different. Is the household registration system, It is these additional features of the household registration system that cause the household registration system and the development are incompatible more and more,which can be said to hinder social and economic development, and not conducive to the building of a harmonious society. Household registration system reform's starting point and final goal is to achieve that citizen (but not the present domicile) can legally enjoy the same treatment with the local population treatment, such as housing, employment, education, health care, insurance and so on. Household registration reform should promote the wide range of household itemized related political, economic and social reforms and remove the household's"interests coat". Then it should progressivly realize that all citizens enjoy equal rights before the end of the household registration system ripe for reform. It is the only way to eliminate the existing household registration system's unfair and inefficient, and thus solve the lag of urbanization,low efficiency of economy and the gap between the expansion of such obvious shortcomings and further rationalize the status of our population migration, human nature, and promote the overall harmonious society development.This paper reviews the evolution of China's household registration system,characteristics,and brifly describes some other countries'household registration system. Then,according to existing social contradictions,it raises the question:what our current society irrational contradictions are, and how they hindered the economic development. Further it analyzes the difficulties arising in the reform and respectively, from the ideological understanding, legislation, household registration management system, differences between urban and rural areas,it expounds my thoughts on China's Household Registration System.
