With the development of foreign language teaching and learning, there is a shift from studies on different teaching methods to the studies of learning strategies. Though a considerable amount of research concerning learning strategies has been done, such as in reading and listening, there have been very few empirical studies on communication strategies use in oral English instruction, especially in senior high school. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out research into this issue.Based on the previous researches, the author attempts to explore the effect of communication strategies training by conducting a teaching experiment which includes questionnaires, tests, interviews and the implementation of communicative strategy training. He hopes that the study can help students understand the correlations between the communication strategies use and oral English achievement so that they can pay attention to communication strategies use and improve their oral English.The comparative analyses of the results of the pre-test and post-test and the feedback from the students show that communication strategies training is effective in helping students to take relatively positive attitudes towards oral English learning and improve their oral English ability. The positive affect can tap the potential of their language abilities. The students have learned not only what kind of strategy to use but how to use it appropriately to improve their oral English achievement.
