Chinese reading teaching is a vital part in Chinese quality-oriented education. Dialogic Chinese reading instruction, which has been a hotspot of Chinese education study, is currently the direction of reform and development for modern Chinese education. The theoretical system of dialogic Chinese reading instruction is increasingly complete, but there is lack of the study on practical dimension, especially the lack of guidance to topic setting. Due to the influences of traditional teaching custom and misunderstanding of teaching theory, there have been some deviations from the concept of dialogue, which leads to mistakes of dialogic teaching.The study employed the means of literature overview and case study. Based on the discussion of connotation and denotation of topic, as well as topic function, with the study of typical case or teaching clips, the types of topic were concluded from the perspective of the practice, at the same time the requests of topic design and principles of topic setting were proposed on the operational level. Then the skill of topic setting in dialogic Chinese reading instruction were probed from setting strategy, the text of topic entry points and the non-text sources respectively.On the context of combining dialogic teaching theory and practice, the study explored a more practical method of dialogic Chinese reading instruction, which looked forward to offer guidance to Chinese reading teaching.
