Investigation On The Development Of College Liberal Arts Specialty With Chinese Characteristics: Problems And Solutions

The University with characteristics is an important pattern of university, which makes great historical and realistic contribution to the economic construction and social development of China. With the reform and development of college education, the universities with characteristics has expanded their discipline and specialty structure to meet the requirement of economic construction and social development since reform and opening. Especially, driven by the spirit flourishing philosophy and social science in China, it has successively established colleges or departments involving disciplines such as humanity, economy and management, set up relevant specialty and developed relevant discipline, which causes remarkable achievements of liberal arts education. But it is undeniable that many problems can be spotted among universities with characteristics regarding their liberal arts, such as indefinite major orientation, lacking of characteristics in training of personnel, unreasonable layout of professional disciplines, seriously redundant teacher and instructional resources, which requires integrating effectively. All in all, liberal arts specialty can hardly meet the needs of economic and social development in terms of overall dimension, the courses'academic level and teaching quality. The problems in the development of liberal arts specialty, to a certain extent, restrict the realization of the goal that the university with characteristics will establish the high-level research university. Therefore, analyzing the problem in the liberal arts of universities with characteristics and its reasons from the perspective of the internal and external law of college education, and exploring the liberal arts establishment and resource allocation, have great significance for promoting the development of humanities and social sciences and achieving the goal of constructing the university with characteristics.
