Design Repository Based On Kbe Supporting Concept Innovation Design

Innovation is a key factor for an enterprise to survive and development in today's highly competitive global enterprise market. Innovation design,as the core of product design, largely determines the competitiveness of enterprises. The people having mastered the advanced design technology will gain the initiative .The key stage of the innovation is the design of concept in the early design stage, which is the primary step of product design, and also the most innovative step. So research on the design of product innovation, with the development of effective design tools which can assist in product innovation process, becomes a hot part of design theory.In addition, with the rapid development of computer technology, CAD (computer-aided design) has provided a great deal of help for people's design work, but, it is still not enough for innovation design, because of all kinds of reasons especially for concept design . Therefore, how to use computer to help designers to complete the innovation design is also a key point in innovation theory study.For these problems, this paper conducted the following studies base on KBE in order to support concept innovation design:collected the status of Product Conceptual Design; analyzed the conceptual design process, creative thinking and a variety of creative techniques; Based on KBE, Summarized the concept of innovative design features and types of resources by questionnaires and interviews, then built a model of knowledge repository (system framework) and a product knowledge integration model for innovative design in all areas, also set the information query method.Based on these studies, we have adopted the currently popular object-oriented technology, MVC design pattern and Java &MySQL technology, established a Web-based design repository platform for so many kind of design resources, which can assist to sort, store and share resources about concept innovation design, help industrial designers engaged in design work to have more choices of thinking, and provide an optimal usage pattern of design resources for concept innovation designs.
