The Research On Design Project Brief

In the background of the globalization, corporations pay great more attention to design innovation along with the pursuit of the creative consciousness increasing. At the same time, corporations need more perfect and scientific management style to guide the process of the product innovation. The idea of corporate design management still needs to be matured, especially only little study on the design project brief can be found in domestic design research area. As the necessary plan and task file used at the beginning of the corporation design innovation, the design project brief aims to help the manager guiding and regulating the design process. In a word, the importance of design project brief should not be ignored during the management of project designing.This paper starts with some design management-related concepts, and deeply discusses the factors which can affect the process of project management in order to emphasize the importance of design project brief. Furthermore, it describes the form of design project brief, the time to set it and who should be related to. According to these factors (such as the concept of product, the designing team), this paper forms the content framework of the design project brief in normal state.Above the fundamental of design method which has been expressed before, the paper combines with the different globalized situation to divide project design into innovative project and reformative project. The paper mainly discusses the process of making the design project brief. As the innovative product has a widely recognition in the market, and the reformative project is usually considered as the complement or a part of innovative project. this paper focuses more on innovative project, and reformative project will come to second. To integrate the advantage of innovative project, the process of making design project brief is divided into three parts: project establishing, method affirming and optimizing. It also includes analyzing the time and procedure of enhancing the general content structure, investigating the specific factors needed to be enhanced, product concept status, management team participating and measures using every period. Finally, the paper builds the concept model of making design project brief.Finally, the paper combines the theoretical results with the author's design practice in CHANGHONG C-family product designing project, in order to prove the accuracy and feasibility of the whole research.
