With the quickening global economic integration process and the intense economic competition, the request of the production efficiency, the time reliability and the flexibility to the fast changeable market environment is enhancing. The modernized physical distribution system in production manufacturing industry becomes the key in the enterprise participation in the market competition ability to the market. But bottleneck resources in the workshop technique of production flow restrained the efficiency in the enterprise. The restraint theory proposed by Dr. Gaud Rutter resolved the question of bottleneck resources in the workshop. This article utilizes the restraint theory (Theory of Constraint, TOC) in the weakest link production efficiency in processing "the bottleneck". This paper applies the discrete event simulation modeling to optimize the bottleneck resources in production line, which can improve the economic income for the multi-varieties, the small batch workshop physical distribution operation pattern. The transformation of the manufacturing industry production causes that the manufacture resources to plan (MRPII), the punctual plan (production management technologies (JIT) can't satisfy the reasonable production need. Based on the TOC management concept, production system's bottleneck reflects the overall situation system and improves the bottleneck's ability. But in the multi-variety small batch production physical distribution system, as the random characteristic in the manufacture system, system's bottleneck drifts along with the different product mix or the duty combination, becomes uncertain. This article utilizes discrete event system modeling and simulation software, establishes the system model, unites bottleneck resources recognition methods, runs the flow and the bottleneck machine management simulation; uses the TOC theory, the tool and the principle to optimize the physical distribution system. This article unifies JD115A asynchronous traction motor assembly process actual production situation in South Electric Locomotive Limited Company, simulates and optimize the original model. The simulation result demonstrates that the improved assembly production line can effectively overcome the original model shortcoming, enhance the production of the system, reduce the goods in stock, which proves that the TOC theory is feasible for the multi-varieties, the small batch production way. This article provides the reference optimization plan for designing and implement in the multi-varieties, the small batch manufacturing firm.
