Gis Of Beijing Residents' Quality Of Life Study

Beijing's rapid economic development and urbanization has been always well ahead of the rest of China. How to improve the life quality of Beijing residents and to "Make the people's lives happier" have been the hot issues which the government and the people concern about. This article aims to geographic information system (GIS) as the foundation, uses factor analysis and cluster analysis to evaluate the life quality of Beijing residents scientifically, and discovers the relationship between the residents'life quality and geographical factors.Firstly, this paper systematically describes theoretical principles and evaluation methods which the scholars at home and abroad use to study the residents'life quality, and combined with the actual development characteristics of all districts and counties in Beijing, constructs an evaluation index system of Beijing residents'life quality which contains 30 basic indicators of three levels; and selects social economic statistics and spatial geographic data of 6 major areas, such as economic development level, basic living facilities, social security, medical conditions, environment, and education of Beijing in the four years from 2006 to 2009, then uses factor analysis to calculate the scores of urban residents'life quality in the 18 districts and counties of Beijing. According to the results estimated, with a large number of detailed charts and the spatial visualization of the evaluation results in ArcGIS, using spatial and temporal comparative analysis, the correlation between geographical factors and the residents' life quality has been revealed through qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.In order to ensure evaluation accuracy and make the evaluation results to reflect reality more accurately, Haidian District is selected as the detailed research area. And take the street/county/town as a research unit to further study the conditions of local residents'life quality. In the evaluation index system of this part, the indicators of the subjective factors are introduced. Using sampling survey questionnaire method, the most real first-hand data of each street/county/town in Haidian District is obtained. This method makes the evaluation results more comprehensive and scientific.
