"Thirteen Five" period is a critical period of reform and opening and an extra period of completion of a comprehensive well-off society. "People-oriented" becomes the first orientation of comprehensive development, and realizing the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people becomes the starting point and goal to fully complete our well-off society, livelihood issues also increasingly become a hot topic in today's Chinese government and people highly social concern. The irrational development of urbanization in Hubei Province, as the central China's strategic pivot, has led to severe "urban disease", restricted to enhance the quality of life of local residents and been an important bottleneck for sustainable development.Based on the actual situation in Hubei province, this research constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system comprising a wide range of socio-economic and ecological environment and so on; then applies both principal component analysis method and exploratory spatial data analysis method to explore the spatial and temporal quality of life and the evolution of spatial autocorrelation mode in Hubei Province 17 major cities (prefectures, districts) by spatial statistics software SPSS 19.0, ArcGIS10.1 and GeoDa0.95i; finally provides the corresponding optimal path to improve our quality of life. The results show as follows.(1) As far as the timing and spatial distribution pattern of the overall level of quality of life is concerned, from 2004 to 2012, the quality of life of urban residents in Hubei Province are divided into highest, higher, medium, lower, and lowest levels of five quality classes. The highest level of quality and grade is only in Wuhan city, the higher quality level floats among the city of Yichang City, Xiangyang City, Shiyan City, and the lowest quality level of town (except Suizhou City in 2004) only includes Shennongjia forest region. But the middle level quality grade and the lower quality grade level city changed significantly, with the biggest increase of the city of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.(2) As far as the timing evolution and spatial distribution pattern of principal component load values is concerned, the economy main components from the first principal component gradually decline in 2004 to the third main component in 2012; while the social main components from the second principal component in 2004 up to the first principal component in 2008 and holds until 2012;In addition, the ecological environment of the main components from the third principal component in 2004 rising to the second main component of 2012. This suggests that economic factors on the quality of life of the inhabitants of capacity constraints has decreased, but still is a factor indispensable; and social factors on the quality of life of residents load value and interpretation capabilities continue to improve, more and more dominant; accordingly ecological environmental factors influence is also rising.(3) As far as quality living space association mode is concerned, the quality of life of urban residents in Hubei Province appears significant negative spatial autocorrelation except 2008. But the spatial association pattern occurs only high-low type (only Wuhan), low-high type (only Shennongjia forest region), in 2012 the first time high-high spatial autocorrelation type cities (Xiangyang City and Yichang City). This indicates that the "upland" effect has begun to appear in this region, but the spillover effects throughout the Hubei region needs to be strengthened.
