Evaluation Of The Agricultural Circular Economic Model Of Rice-duck Mutualism Of Hubei Province

Placing undue emphasis on economic benefits, modern rice production disturbs paddy field ecosystem unduly and speeds up the exploration of rice fields. This reduces productivity of paddy fields, aggravates pollution and can't meet people's demand of organic foods. Rice-duck Mutualism, an agricultural circular economic model, is conditioned on paddy land and centered on rice growing. The ecological engineering of matching nature with manpower and raising domestic ducks in the fields by net-feeding mode is an important technical way to effectively control ecological pollution of general rice planting.Since 1990s, Rice-duck Mutualism has been introduced to Hubei Province. With the increasing of Rice-duck Mutualism areas, theory of Rice-duck Mutualism has becoming a hot research topic. However, the development of Rice-duck Mutualism is similar with most traditional ecological agricultures. Although Rice-duck Mutualism has priority on production practice, it is still confined to production experience, lacking in regularity understanding, and the degree of scientification and standardization of production capability is low, the rice and aquatic product do not have high quality or stable yield, which is not beneficial for the consolidation and development of technology and production results. Therefore, strengthening the scientific experiments and systematic researches on the agricultural system of Rice-duck Mutualism, setting up a safe, high quality, effective production theory and technique system has become an important topic to solve in current agricultural production. For this reason, on the basis of investigation of production status of Rice-duck Mutualism in Hubei Province, this paper comprehensively evaluates economic, ecological and social benefits of Rice-duck Mutualism agricultural circular economic model respectively. According to the problems arising from demonstration and popularizing, from the aspects of development mechanism and supporting measures, this paper puts forward strategies of sustainable development of Rice-duck Mutualism agricultural circular economic model.Studies show that Rice-duck Mutualism agricultural circular economic model can increase the yield of rice, improve the quality of duck products, increase famers'revenue, realize the aim of high yield and high efficiency of rice and ducks and has great economic benefits. It also has obvious control effect on pests and diseases of rice and can significantly reduce the occurrence and harmfulness of preponderant weeds in paddy field, the survival weeds are few. It is also good for enhancing soil fertility, improving the growing conditions of rice and has great economic benefits. In addition, it can increase processing quality, exterior quality, nutritional quality, cooking quality of rice and has obvious social benefits.The study above shows that Rice-duck Mutualism realizes the aim of no or less fertilizer or pesticide, no intertillage weeding, lowering production cost, saving work force, improving organic nutrition of soil and water, promoting growth of rice and ducks, at the same time, ensuring agricultural products safety, protecting agroecological environment, improving the quantity and quality of rice and ducks and brings about harmony of economic returns and environmental protection and contribution to society. Rice-duck Mutualism is an excellent economic model and is worth popularizing in rice production.
