A Study On The Development Of Low-carbon Economy Of Wuhan

Under the current background of global warming, low-carbon economy has become the choice of countries for sustainable development. Countries, cities, and parks have become important carriers of low-carbon economy. Present cities are faced by many serious problems, The thesis researches on low-carbon economy at the urban level.This thesis first mainly summarizes the literature review related to low-carbon economy,which focuses on the measurement of carbon emission, factor decomposition and scenario analysis . In the empirical analysis of Wuhan, the thesis first estimates the carbon emission of 11 kinds of energy consumption of Wuhan from 1995 to 2008 .then makes a detailed analysis of key factors which have greater impact on carbon emission , we find that economic development is the major factor to increase carbon emission and the improvement of energy efficiency is the main factor to reduce carbon emission, at last we analyse the situation of Wuhan from the low-carbon perspective on the basis of previous parts, we know energy saving situation is grim in Wuhan. The fourth chapter mainly establishes the model of energy consumption which reflects economy,population and industrial structure and the relationship of carbon emission which reflects the energy structure,it uses the method of scenario analysis to get various scenarios of carbon emission in Wuhan in year 2015 and 2020. At last it makes comprehensive analysis of carbon emission per capita and carbon intensity in Wuhan. we find that Wuhan's carbon emission per capita is far higher than the global,and it still rises. However,the trend of carbon intensity falls , but the task is still difficult. Finally, the thesis puts forward several recommendations to develop low-carbon economy in Wuhan, especially improvement of energy efficiency, optimization of energy structure and industrial structure. It also makes some proposals about the development of low-carbon economy in regions and key areas. Besides it summarizes the relevant policy instruments.
