Study On Evaluation Of Innovation Capacity Of Science And Technology Service Industry In Guangdong Province

The regional innovation capacity and growth potential has been determined by the development of science and technology service industry to some extent, while the industry can not develop without innovation. Innovation capacity determines its scale and service capability, which is essential for the industry's survival and development. In order to overcome the development bottlenecks in Guangdong province, building a set of evaluation index system for the science and technology service industry's innovation capacity is very necessary.This paper introduces the concept of the science and technology service industry and its features at first, then makes an analysis of categories according to different criteria. After that, the paper proposes the definition of the science and technology service industry's innovation capacity and its elements in the reference of some innovation theories. Further more, the paper sets up a set of evaluation index system for the science and technology service industry's innovation capacity with considerations of the industry's characteristics and data availability; then compares the science and technology service industry's innovation capacity between Guangdong and other provinces through factor analysis,extracts three common components and tries to explain and define them, points out the favorable and unfavorable factors in Guangdong province. Finally, in order to improve the science and technology service industry's innovation capacity in Guangdong province, some suggestions are given from the two angles of policy makers and service operators.
