The Shanghai predominantly urban region covers Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo,Huzhou,Jiaxing,Shaoxing,Zhoushan,Nanjing,Wuxi,Suzhou,Zhenjiang, Yangzhou.Taizhou,Changzhou.Nantong.lt lies on the east coasts of our country and is the most energetic and competitive economy area in China. In spite of the advantages mentioned above, the Shanghai predominantly urban region' economy internationalization level is relatively lower compared with other developed region in the world. This finds expression in the lower economy openness, economic integration, urbanization, industrial structure, market openness.Promoting the internationalization will not only make the region economy develop quicker but also become the engine of the whole country's economic development.Any theoretical research is based on the achievements of previous research. The scholars at home and abroad have done comprehensive and deepgoing research on the promotion of urban regions'economic development and internationalization. This article reviewed the related theory and put forward my comprehension on the promotion of the internationalization of the Shanghai predominantly urban region. On the basis of this and emphasis on the growth pole role played by Shanghai in the process of the promotion of the internationalization of the Shanghai predominantly urban region, I made elaborate analysis. The conclusion is that the thing that matters in the process of the promotion of the internationalization of urban region's economy is that how the central city plays its role and stimulates the economic growth. Shanghai should play its irreplaceable leader role. First, Shanghai should develop more quickly on the angle of constructing the Shanghai predominantly urban region to an international region. In addition, it should develop to a much strong and identified cosmopolitan. Second, as the central city of this region , Shanghai should realize its sense of vocation and promote the whole economic development and the internationalization of this region. This includes the basic sevice as the central city and functional sevice as its construction of international financial, trade and shipping center.
