As the most energetic and developed external area, South China is also thearea in which there are most densely distributed container terminals. And thehuge change in port's orientation, function and condition, coming from thedifference of regionalism and economic situation, leads to violent competition. On the base of volume investigation about information, literature and statistic, the author research and design a mode to confirm a suitable position forNansha Port.On the base of volume investigation about information and statistics, theauthor research Nansha port's competitive condition and relationshipscomparing with other neighbor center ports for the future of whole portdevelopment in South China. With the effect of the changes in interior economics and worldwide containertransportation, Nansha port has been come out of and put into operation inconsideration of long-term development as Guangzhou port is gradually losingits power as traditional port with too much disadvantage in its geography, infrastructure and facilities. With the establishment of Nansha port, the similar ports near it were affectedaccordingly. Relying on the theory "The factors of influence on portscompetition" and considering the condition of nature, economy and practice ofthe ports. The Author set up a evaluation system of ports competition,Furthermore, comparing the factors of Nansha and neighbor ports, the authorobtained all factors of advantage and disadvantage. The competition between ports is inevitable, while it is a key topic for the portsto consider and discuss how to compete. They set up the mathematic modelwhose variable is "price" and "yield" by Game Theory, and established theneed of cooperation of competitive ports of the same area.According to the specialty of ports in the Pearl River Delta, we can plot these ports into regional ports. Based on the proper competition and using the evolution and development theory of regional ports, It can be imagined the future of the development of Nansha Port and other surrounding important ports: competitive base on cooperation.Aimed at these conclusions and based from my working experience, I design the future mode of cooperation of Port Group in South China and based on this cooperation mode, I find the Nansha's proper position in the Port Group and put forward some suggestions as the reference, which about cooperation among ports in South China.
