Pmbok-based System, Erp System Implementation Project Management Research

The ERP has been introduced into China and grown up strongly for more than 20 years as the most popular topic in business information management area. It has already got an extensive application abroad, but there are difficulties in the implementation of ERP system for Chinese enterprises. According to the statistics nearly 80% ERP system implementations are failed, which leads negative influence to ERP system– one of the most important methods for business information management. The failure of ERP implementation not only relates to the reason of technique, but also more to the reason of management aspect directly. The advanced project management can promote the ERP system implementation.Currently the familiar research method of ERP implement project management is based to time thread, which divided into 4 parts - project preparation, project implementation, system running and project ending work. This research method is comprehensive in the point of view of ERP implementation. But it can not integrate the parts of project management using this method into a set of system. So the paper chooses the classic PMBOK theories to analyze ERP system implementation completely after introducing the most famous project management theories including PMBOK and Project Management Maturity Model. At the same time the paper chooses the case of Lenovo global ERP improving project to do research about the key problems needing to be taken attention in ERP system implementation as the positivism analysis.
